Cancer Biology PhD Program students

The primary goal of the Cancer Biology (CNB) Major is to comprehensively train the next generation of cancer researchers that will make key contributions to our understanding of the disease either in the academic or industrial setting. The focus of the CNB Major is on understanding the molecular, cellular and microenvironmental mechanisms that drive cancer initiation and progression, heterogeneity, metastasis, and therapy resistance.

Faculty in the CNB Major is at the forefront of cutting edge areas of cancer research including genetics, epigenetics, RNA biology, proteomic interrogation of signal transduction pathways, cancer metabolism, tumor microenvironment, immunology, cancer imaging techniques, cancer dormancy and metastasis. Many of the faculty also leverage the unique clinical and drug discovery resources at the Moffitt Cancer Center to conduct translational research that can directly impact our patients’ lives.
