Patient care, research and education are all important parts of Moffitt Cancer Center’s Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology Program. Moffitt’s designation by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center provides patients with the opportunity to be among the first to receive advanced therapies not yet available at other facilities in the state.
Under the direction of Mokenge Malafa, M.D., FACS, the GI Oncology team includes board-certified, fellowship-trained physician/scientists, who each have a high level of expertise in GI cancer. They also have dual appointments at Moffitt and the University of South Florida College of Medicine, one of the nation’s leading research universities.

Moffitt’s team of colorectal cancer specialists has extensive experience in treating colorectal tumors and treats a high volume of almost 400 colorectal tumor patients annually.
Our team of experts in colorectal cancer will address all of your health care needs and concerns. We offer a collaborative approach with specialists in many disciplines working together to plan and carry out your treatment. The specialists on your team may include: surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, endoscopy specialists, pathologists, palliative care specialists and nurses.
